Pole ́s upcoming album “wald” is the logical continuation of the "Waldgeschichten"-trilogy from the years 2011-2012. For more info see www.pole-music.com/music.
Based on and inspired by the films and photographs that Stefan Betke created in the woods during the last five years a musical journey emerged; telling of landscapes, spaces, and sounds. With the aid of pole's very typical dubbing production method the pictures obtain a musical life of their own.
As a keyboarder and pianist pole records his tracks in the studio with electronic instruments, mixing and producing those recordings in the studio, and working out the parts used for live performances.
It is pole's very analog mode of operation that lends his music the deep warmth, for which he is so well known. Melodies, hinted at, but never fully formulated, transparent studio productions, minimal song structures, complex sound design, danceable live shows. Club music and concert experience are connected, complemented by video images, and provide the project's multifunctionality.
Video / MFO:
By connecting with MFO, pole's musical ideas of the last decade are being enriched by a visual language. MFO's works are known for their genuine and clearly defined aesthetics, for images resonating with music, and for a musical language which is able to create emotional spaces while translating them into visuals.
Live Presentation/pole_MFO:
A large part of this collaboration will take place live on stage, home of pole's fuzz box, sequencer, effect appliances, and his analog mixer for dubbing and modulating. They provide the bassy, warm world of sound, right up to disturbing, contorted structures.
Corespondingly MFO uses diverse instruments like film, projectors, lenses, prisms, mirrors, cameras and computer for creating his visual ideas.
Equally using new and old media forms, his mode of operation eases analog trick technology into a digital continuum, producing a multifaceted visual imagery: a cosmos of textures and disturbances, an experience from psychedelic to surreal moments.
With their audio-visual show the two performers create a sparkling, complex work of technology.
